The new switch is like a roping school in my backyard, I bought it last winter, and started running my 3yr old gelding with it, and after countless hours of making my kids drag it in the back pasture, I took my horse that has never been roped on and me who has never entered a jackpot, and we won the local novice division, and I can actually hanging in there with some of the local big dogs in our area. I’ve roped the heal o matic, and the smarty, and neither do as well at training you how to throw your head loop. If your a beginner start with this, you will see a difference in your game I know I did
With so many different sleds and machines out there it is hard to decide which to go with. I have roped several other brands over the years and the Switch by far has the most realistic action and body movements on the market. The different leg settings and adjustable head makes for a more realistic Roping experience. I would recommend it over all others on the market.
This dummy is one of the nicest sleds that i have got the chance to rope. you must rope it correctly. well worth the money
I can’t even begin to express how much The Switch has improved my roping! I purchased my Switch and sharpened my skills on the heel side…my first jackpot after that produced a WIN!!! Who wouldn’t want a tool that gives you results like that?!! My wife just started roping and I LOVE how you can interchange the length of horns! It gives her the opportunity to start simple and advance her heading with different horn lengths! The Switch is a great tool that has improved my roping, helped my wife get started, and has taken both of us to the pay window!!!
I purchased the switch to train colts on and work on me I love how the spring system takes all the jerk away from my young horses. the pole on the heel side really made me ride my horse and swing correctly keeping me in tune as well as training my horses. only sled i will ever own
I wasn’t sure what sled to go with just because there is so many options. I chose the Ropesmart Switch because of the versatility. Being able to switch difficulty levels was the decision maker I could not be more pleased with my purchase!
All the benefits of having real steers to rope and more. What this roping trainer doesn’t have is the feed bill, medical bills, it doesn’t get out of the pasture at night.
The roping dummy has improved my game tremendously since I started using. I had a problem dropping my elbow but after I started practicing with the pole in the dummy the elbow dropping has gone away. I am more consistent and rope better.
Thank you Rope Smart.
We are very happy with the Switch. My husband and kids really enjoy roping it, and it really helps the horses figure out where they should be.
The Switch is one of my favorite roping sleds to rope. It’s is a great tool
For building a good consistent pattern for your horse and to also simulate a real feel through the corner on the heel side. I highly recommend this dummy!!
I love the Switch! This dummy is easy to pull and the best to rope. It was built with all levels of ropers in mind. The adjustability of the dummy allows beginners and the most advanced improve each practice. I’ve found that other dummies on the market are too easy to rope, unlike the Switch. This dummy is also great for training a young horse. The heavy duty construction, spring loaded legs and shock absorption features help protect your horse while getting the most realistic practice!
Roping live cattle over and over trying to fix what went wrong with the last run is like a cat chasing his own tail! The Switch lets you rope realistically and work in the areas you need to rope correctly. Not easy to rope but if it were easy it wouldn’t help you get to where you want to be!
Love my switch. We spend alot time before and after practice on live cattle on the switch. Friends come over and want rope it all the time!!
I have roped every sled on the market currently. The “Switch” is by far the best one made to date. With adjustments on both the head and heels of the dummy it can be adjusted to suit your personal needs. The feet swinging out to the side and the two point hitch system give the “Switch” a very realistic look. It is certainly a machine that will find holes in your roping and help you to correct them.
I bought this sled about 5 months ago and I’ve been very happy with this product. I like the fact that for headers you can switch up the head positions which is something you don’t get on other brands. I’ve used this sled to help train one of my young horses and have also had a lot of fun heeling this thing. I’ve become more consistent with my heeling since I started roping this sled. It’s well made and I would recommend this product to anyone in the market for a sled.
Love our switch! By far one of the best sleds on the market in my opinion. Sure it may look different but that’s not always bad! It’s made a world of difference in challenging myself to improve my roping. I was too back by the pole at first but what I love most is that this thing CAN’T be cheated with the pole in. It really makes you work on your roping and that’s what pays off in the long run! Looking forward to the day I get a ground dummy. Nothing else on the market has this kind of versatility and variety of ways to improve your roping & even horsemanship alike.
I had purchased a Smarty several months ago, after roping the rope smart Switch, wish I hadn’t. I liked that the Smarty has the stationary legs which I liked but it was way to easy to rope from every position. Head and heeling. Don’t like the head at all, and when pulled off to use on the ground so unrealisticly high. The Switch is very challenging but also has settings for beginners. Love the way the head can be set up, middle or down like a ducker. It can be set, tip right or left. I really thought I would be hitting the heeling position post when in, but I very seldom did, and when I did I was actually letting my horse duck in early. On the heading post I always thought it was a gimmick, but I have got to where I can rope it consistently now and can reach further than I ever dreamed. Goning to start looking for a head horse to start heading again. Overall best machine I have ever roped. Not the easiest but I truly have improved and that’s what matters.
This is the only sled designed to help improve a header. With the pole, the wider horns, and being able to tilt and drop the head you can test yourself as much as you want.
We previously have used several different roping dummies over the years. There was always something about them that wasn’t right. Either the leg movement was too much, the head was wrong, or roping different positions didn’t work out well. We truly love everything about The Switch. It truly does everything we want it to and it’s built correct. We like the moveable head for different positions. The legs are incredibly real and feet swinging out makes it that much more realistic. This sled is great for advanced ropers and also for beginners. Our young son is enjoying learning on it a lot. It’s also perfect for my husband and myself…and we’ve been roping for 30 years or so. This is by far our favorite….we’ve gotten rid of all of our others. This is the only one we will ever need. We love it!
This drag dummy has changed my roping life. Every other dummy I’ve tried was way too easy to catch, and never made me work on getting better. But the versatility of the Switch and the specific design of both the head and heel side has made me get so much better. The 3 head positions and the ability to turn the head to either side and lock it in is such huge advantage for me, and the blocker pole makes me rope it right every time. Other dummies you can be completely wrong and still catch it.
The spring protection in 2 places (hitch and back legs) for the heel horse is a really big deal to me as well. Now I can dally without hitting my horse hard at all.
I use this for my finished horses, my colts, for me, and especially my kids. What a great machine.
The switch is my go to tool in my preparation for a rodeo, jackpot, or when I’m giving lessons here at my ranch. The most realistic corner on the market and the head adjustments allow me to practice or teach any situation at any speed. My colts will hook up with it faster than any ground driven dummy I’ve put them on. It your looking to break horses or records and not break the bank check out the switch by ropesmart
